Positive: The house is spacious and has a lot of bedrooms: we were a family of five but it could easily sleep at least two more people (and probably more, we didn't even open one of the rooms). The bath room is nicely renovated and has a walk-in shower. We could park our rental car in front of the house or a private parking lot twenty meters from it. Porto da Cruz, where the house is located, is close to a lot of treks and cities on the island so it served as a perfect home base. You can see the hillsides from the windows which is a spectacular view to wake up to. Carolina, the host, was amazing and very responsive to all our questions and requests and even gave us several tips for our trip.
Negative: If you come from colder climates (like we do) where you're used to more advanced ways of heating a house, you might feel a bit chilly inside the first few days. Here, too, Carolina was really helpful and provided two electric heaters (the one that go on wheels) and since we had them on during the day, they heated the rooms enough for the evening and night. This is not really a negative but rather something to prepare for and it's probably true for most accommodations on the island.
